FULL CIRCLE

THERE ONCE WAS JUST A TRICKLING STREAM AT A MOUNTAIN TOP,
CATCHING THE LIGHT IN EACH DROPLET DROPPED.
THE SHINE OF THE SUN, A PRISM OF COLOR,
REFLECTING THE BEAUTY OF TIME WITHOUT HOUR.

BIRDS SANG WITH JOY FOR A PLACE TO DRINK,
THE FLOWERS AN ARRAY OF RAINBOW PINK.
A WISP OF FRAGRANCE CARRIED IN THE BREEZE,
FREE-FLIGHT AND CAREFREE WERE THE HONEY BEES.

THIS LITTLE STREAM GREW WITH THE HELP OF THE RAIN,
WITH THE POWER OF A RIVER IT BECAME,
ITS DEPTH AND WIDTH EXPANDED WITH BREACH,
GIVING GREATER LIFE TO ALL, TO ALL IT COULD REACH.

ONE DAY THE RIVER IN ALL ITS POWER,
WENT AS FAR AS IT WAS ABLE IN ITS LAST HOUR.
IT FOUND ITSELF IN A DESSERT WIND,
SLOWLY FINDING WHAT SEEMED TO BE THE END.

SUDDENLY IT HEARD A WHISPER FROM THE AIR,
“LET ME LIFT YOU FROM YOUR DESPAIR.”
THE ONCE RIVER QUESTIONED ITS PLIGHT,
AND THE WHISPER ANSWERED, “THIS IS NOT A FIGHT.”

PLEASE TAKE MY HAND, PLEASE, PLEASE DON’T RESIST,
AND I’LL CARRY YOU HIGH INTO THE MIST.
THE RIVER TRUSTED WHAT SEEMED TO BE A FADING DREAM,
AND WAS CARRIED TO A MOUNTAIN TOP TO A TRICKLING STREAM.

THE PORT

When is it too soon to stop being afraid?
When is it that we’ve seen too much?
When is it that we can let go?
When is it that we’ve seen enough?

When is it that we can trust?
When is it that it’s too late?
When is it that we must?
When is it that it’s fate?

When is it that we go too far?
When is it that we fall short?
When is it that we are,
Beneath the water of the port?

On a Dime

On a dime,
Over night.
You can’t take back,
What’s not right.

Things change,
Fiction’s real.
Life is fiction,
What a deal.

What I didn’t know then,
Makes sense now,
When I was five,
I wasn’t ten.

See the obvious,
All the time,
To get headway,
Get a little behind.

FLY

WHEN I CLOSE MY EYES, I AM NOT AFRAID,
BEING BEYOND WHAT IS, WHAT IS IN THE WAY.
HANDS STRETCH OUT TIGHT, JUST TO FEEL YOUR TOUCH,
REACHING…, REACHING, NOT NEEDING, NOT NEEDING SO MUCH.

I CAN SEE NOW THAT THE SIGHT IS NOT WHAT I HAVE SEEN,
FOR THE HIGHER THAT I FLY, THE MORE I’VE EVER BEEN.

THE MORE THAT I CAN FEEL, YOU SURROUNDING ME,
THE FREER I CAN RISE, THE MORE I CAN BE.
NOTHING’S IN THE WAY, WHEN I AM SO HIGH,
PILLOW OF AIR UNDER ME, OPENING OF MY EYES.

THIS IS THE TRUTH, IN MY HEART OF HEARTS,
IT’S BEEN MY VERY CORE, FROM THE VERY START.
NOW I PRAY TO GO, HIGHER EVERY DAY,
TO BE WITH ONLY YOU, AND LIVE BY YOUR WAVE.

I CAN SEE NOW THAT THE SIGHT IS NOT WHAT I HAVE SEEN, FOR THE HIGHER THAT I FLY, LOVE IS IN MY DREAMS.
